FAQs

  • I found a wallpaper design online I like but want to see it in person. Can I order samples from you?
We have thousands of samples in our store, but of course we can't claim to have them all. If you find something you like and we don't already have it, we'll be happy to order samples for you, and can ship them to the store or your house. Samples ship by USPS, and usually take about a week. Samples are typically $5-10, which can be put toward the costs of a full order.
  • I love your shop but live don't live in Philadelphia. Do you ship outside the city?
We love living in Philly, but if it's not your cup of tea we still believe you deserve quality wallpaper and top notch customer service, so we're happy to ship samples or full orders to your doorstep, wherever in the world that may be. Shipping costs will vary depending on the country and the weight of the package. We generally use DHL, which we find to be quite reliable.
  • I'm an artist and looking for spaces to show my work. Is your shop available for something like that?
We love that our shop serves as a community space to amplify local artists and people of all trades. We welcome your inquiries about showcasing your own work, be it wallcoverings or not!
  • I have a design that I want to turn into wallpaper. Do you do custom work?
We sure do! Drop us a line and we'll walk through the process with you in more detail but it generally goes like this: You send us an image (a .tif file works best) and within 10-15 business days you'll have a strike-off to approve. Once you give us the green light, your full order should be ready in 3-4 weeks.
  • I have old wallpaper I'm trying to get rid of. Do you want it?
We buy old wallpaper! Stop by the shop, or send us some pictures and we'll talk.
  • I'm looking for wallpaper from a specific time period, can you help?
In a word, yes. Without giving away too much about Paul's age, he's been in the business for almost four decades and loves to help you find exactly what you're looking for.
  • I have my wallpaper, but need someone to hang it. Do you have any recommendations?
We'll make sure you have everything you need for your wallpaper project, including the right person to do the installation.
  • How come I can't purchase wallpaper from you online?
We grant that the world moves in large part online these days, which of course comes with some conveniences, but the core of our business is personalized service, which to us starts with personal interactions. We love meeting new people who wander into the shop on a whim, and cherish the interactions with long-time customers and neighborhood characters. Can't make it to the shop? No need to be shy - give us a call or send us an email. We look forward to meeting you.
  • If I have a piece of wallpaper, can you reproduce it?
You bet - bring it in to the shop, or snap and send a pic to us via email. I'll work with a printer to produce as much of it as your heart desires. Costs are usually around $12 per sq ft, depending on color and image size, and we'd have a strike off* for you to approve within 10-15 business days. *strike off is a fancy wallpaper word for 'sample of what you'll actually get'
  • There are no costs on your website. How much does wallpaper typically run?
It really varies, depending on the company, and we can easily give you recommendations to fit your budget. Not to toot our own horn, or give owner Paul a bigger head, but we can generally beat the prices you'd find from online vendors because of low overhead costs and established connections with paper companies.
  • How long does it usually take wallpaper to come in after ordering?
We'll have your orders usually in a week. Expedited shipping is available.
  • I'm in the film industry and need wallpaper for set design. Can you help?
We have supplied a number of tv and film producers with period wallcoverings, and would gladly work with you to make sure you find the right fit and have it in time for production.
  • Can I frame wallpaper?
Sure, why not? It's a great way to display a design you love that doesn't quite work for a whole room or accent wall. The Philly AIDS Thrift Shop also happens to be across the street from our shop, so if inspiration hits, you can likely find a cool frame that lets you conveniently take home a unique piece of art in style. Curious about other ways to use wallpaper? Owner Paul loves to wax poetic about the many options.
